Propective students interested in the Hindi Urdu Flagship program should use the following checklist to ensure a complete and timely application to both the Flagship and UT Austin.
University of Texas at Austin Undergraduate Application
Prospective Flagship Students are required to submit a separate application for undergraduate admission to the University of Texas at Austin Office of Admissions. Please do not send the UT application for admission or the admissions fee to the Hindi Urdu Flagship Program.
You can find out more about UT application requirements and begin the application process online at the Be A Longhorn website. The deadline for Fall admission is February 1.
Hindi Urdu Flagship Application
Complete our online application. You will need to include a statement of purpose. You can prepare this beforehand and copy and paste it into the application. To preview all the information required, you can download a pdf of the application here. All applications must be submitted online.
Complete Scholarship and Financial Aid Applications
Students should complete both the FAFSA and ApplyTexas Application for Freshmen Scholarships. Most UT scholarships are awarded through these two applications. Please note the ApplyTexas application deadline is December 1st. The FAFSA priority deadline is March 31st. FAFSA applications are available starting January 30th. There is no separate application for Hindi Urdu Flagship scholarships (HUF applicants are considered for Flagship scholarships after receiving their initial financial aid package from UT). Hindi Urdu Flagship Interview
Once your Flagship and UT applications are submitted, the Flagship team will contact you to set up a brief admissions interview. The interview will be conducted either by phone or in person. Campus visits by prospective students are always welcome.
Attend Summer Flagship Course (for students with no Hindi Urdu background)
Prospective Flagship students with no Hindi Urdu background should plan on attending our 12-week, intensive summer course at UT Austin. No separate application is required for the course (just remember to check the “Summer Course” option in the standard Flagship application). Final details on the summer 2008 course will be posted to our website by early December 2007.
Written commitment to Hindi Urdu Flagship Program
If you have followed the above checklist and are selected to join the Hindi Urdu Flagship, you will receive an offer of admission, possibly accompanied by a new UT financial aid package revised to include a HUF scholarship, by mail. You will need to respond to this offer both by email and by post (returning a completed acceptance form) by the date indicated in the offer letter.
